XPilot for the iPhone Release 1.1 Code complete July 21, 2009 BUG FIXES --------- Waiting For Label http://7b5labs.com/trac/ticket/69 There was a bug wherein the "Waiting for a new game to start" label would stay on screen even when the new game started. This was caused by some interesting logic, but at the end of the rabbit hole we found it was because of special characters in nick names, and also lower-cased first letters of nick names. The work around for 1.0 is to have your nickname start with a capital alphabet letter. This has been fixed in code to correct the nick name read in from the preferences to strip out any illegal characters and capitalize the first character. ENHANCEMENTS ------------ New Control Wheel http://7b5labs.com/trac/ticket/70 There is a new control scheme! Some of the feedback we've received indicated that users had some problems with their fingers obscuring too much of the screen while they play. The new control wheel is smaller, and appears wherever you tap your finger. This dynamic position ring allows you to put the control wheel wherever you want it. The rudder system has also been changed in this new mode to instead make the ship go in the direction you drag. The control wheel is also significantly smaller as to not obscure the screen. From the new user manual entry: Ship steering and thrust are controlled by touching anywhere on the screen. When you touch, a "control ring" appears. Move your finger in any direction to rotate the ship to point in that direction. As you move your finger away from the center of the ring, your ship will begin to thrust -- that is, accelerate in the direction it's currently pointed. The further you move your finger, the harder you'll accelerate. When you let go, you'll stop accelerating, but your ship will keep drifting in the same direction due to inertia. The old control ring may still be used by going into Settings > Control Ring and selecting the other Type "Center Ring (pull back to steer)". This new, smaller, dynamic-position control wheel is the new default control scheme. Score List http://7b5labs.com/trac/ticket/8 There is now an option to view the current scores in the game. There is a new icon at the top of the screen next to the chat icon. Click on this new scoresheet icon to bring up the list of scores. Tap anywhere on the score list box to close it, or tap again on the scoresheet icon in the upper-right.
